Muriel Siebert Finance Definition
The
first woman to buy a seat, or membership, on the New York Stock Exchange, in 1967
at the age of 35. After 1975, when brokers stopped earning fixed commissions,
Siebert started her own firm, Muriel Siebert & Co., the first discount
brokerage. She also was New York States superintendent of banking in 1977.
