Security Account Manager
Security Account
Manager (SAM)
Hacker Definition
On Microsoft Windows 2000 and NT, user
account data is stored within the SAM, which is actually just one file on the
disk. SAM is a primary target for crackers.
Given that SAM is stored in both an original and a repair version, crackers
tend to seek the repair version because it is not locked by the operating
system.
