lock-limit Finance Definition
A term used in the futures market to describe upward or downward limits to price moves during a trading session. Once the lock-limit is reached, prices can’t move any further in that direction during the trading session; trading comes to a halt. If prices begin to move in the opposite direction, then trade will resume and the market will no longer be locked.
