West-bank meaning

A disputed territory in historic Palestine west of the Jordan River, occupied by Israel in the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. A 1994 accord gave the Palestinians limited self-rule and required measured withdrawal of Israeli troops, but implementation of the accord was hampered by continuing violence and the presence of Israeli settlements.
