See Virtual WATS. 1.5-way paging A variation of two-way paging, which supports guaranteed message delivery, as the network does not attempt to download messages until such time as the pager is within range, turned on, and has enough memory to support the download. The general location of the pager is communicated upstream, so the messages can be downloaded to the system antennas supporting that particular geographic area, rather than being broadcast across the entire paging network. Once downloaded successfully, the pager acknowledges to the network the receipt of the page. See also antenna, download, two-way paging, and upstream.
