Bazinga!
Since 2007, the ensemble cast of the ABC comedy
The Big Bang Theory has brought their own unique vocabulary to TV-land and have made TV watchers aware of words to which they may not have previously been exposed.
The cast and their backgrounds:
- Sheldon Cooper is a theoretical physicist with several doctorate degrees.
- Leonard Hofstadter is an experimental physicist with a doctorate degree.
- Rajesh (Raj) Koothrappali is an astrophysicist with a doctorate degree.
- Howard Wolowitz has a master's degree in engineering.
- Penny is an aspiring actress who is now a pharmaceutical sales rep.
- Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz has a doctorate in microbiology and works for a drug company.
- Amy Farrah Fowler is a neurobiologist with a doctorate degree.
- Stuart Bloom owns the local comic book store.
Combine this cast of 30-somethings in a setting of comradery, phobias, craziness and mix in a little Star Trek and comic book mania and you end up with a set of unique vocabulary words.
Sheldon Cooper loves to say "Bazinga!" when he believes he has fooled someone. It is his way of saying "Gotcha."
The word has become a favorite of Big Bang fans and Bazinga-themed merchandise is widely-available in the marketplace.
