Mesh-network meaning

A communications network in which there are at least two pathways to each node. If one of the paths fails, the other is still available.A "fully meshed" network means that every node has a direct connection to every other node, which is an elaborate and expensive architecture. Most mesh networks are partially meshed and require traversing intermediate nodes to go from each node to every other. See mesh, wireless mesh network, topology and 802.11s.

A communications network with at least two pathways to each node, forming a net-like organization. When each node is connected to every other node, the network is said to be fully meshed. When only some of the nodes are linked, switching is required to make all the connections and the network is said to be partially meshed, or partially connected.
