Of dye-stuffs there are produced henna (Lawsonia iijermis) principally grown at Khabis near Kermn, woad and madder; a small quantity of indigo is grown near Dizfu and Shushter.
This plant, Lawsonia, was used by Egyptians to achieve their preferred hair color.
Henna dye is made from the crushed up stems and leaves of the Henna flowering bush, also known as the Lawsonia flower.
