jai· alai (hī′lī′, hī′ə lī′)

a game like handball, popular in Latin America: it is played with a curved basket (cesta) fastened to the arm, for catching the ball and hurling it against the wall

Etymology: Sp < Basque jai, celebration + alai, merry
