former region in W Africa consisting of two trust territories, (in 1960 forming the republic of Cameroon) and (in 1961 divided between Cameroon and Nigeria)

A region and former German protectorate of west-central Africa. After World War I the territory was divided into British Cameroons and French Cameroons.
