a two-dimensional pictorial representation of a three-dimensional object, used as in showing three sides of a six-sided object, in which the three principal axes of the object are tilted from the plane of viewing, the edges of the object are shown as being projected on the plane of viewing, and the dimensions are foreshortened in the direction of the axes
