Unmount meaning

(1) To disconnect a disk drive or optical disc from a computer. When a user selects "eject" to evacuate an optical disc from the computer, the operating system unmounts the medium. Contrast with mount.

(computing) Reverse operation of mount. Instructs the operating system that the file system should be disassociated from its mount point, making it no longer accessible.
