New Urbanism is an urban design movement that started in the 1980s that focuses on creating neighborhoods with a range of job and housing types as well as features which minimize the need for using a vehicle.

An example of New Urbanism is a neighborhood with housing that is close to public transportation, shopping, parks and walking areas.
