In 1910 he had published a collection of his patriotic speeches, and a volume La Ligue des Patriotes containing further extracts from them appeared two years after his death.
During the Commune he formed the Ligue d'union republicaine des droits de Paris to attempt a reconciliation with the government of Versailles.
He was then director of the college of Senlis, where he composed his Esprit de la Ligue ou histoire politique des troubles de la Fronde pendant le X VI e et le X Vil e siecles (1767).
The Law Library, the libraries of the San Francisco Medical Society, and the French library of La Ligue Nationale Francaise (1874), were destroyed in the fire of 1906 and re-established.
He also was an energetic supporter of the Ligue de la Patrie Francaise.
