Hate-crime meaning

The definition of a hate crime is a crime that is motivated by some type of prejudice against an individual such as race, gender, sexuality, religion or national origin and are usually punished more severely in terms of sentencing than traditional crimes motivated by other reasons.

Murdering someone because he is a homosexual is an example of a hate crime.
