Others were sent into the provinces as governors, comites per provincias constituti; thus in the Notitia dignitatum we find a comes Aegypti, a conies Africae, a comes Belgicae, a comes Lugdunensis and others.
The licentious Conies, published under the name of his brother D'Ouville, are often attributed to him.
In the Conies moralises, written by Nicole Bozon shortly before 1320 (Soc. Anc. Textes, 1.889), a few fables bear a strong resemblance to those of Marie de France.
