The abdomen is composed of varying numbers of segments; it bears no legs but may possess appendages, e.g. claspers used in mating.
Most male Hymenoptera have processes which form claspers or genital armature.
In some male Phyllopoda they form complex " claspers " for holding the female.
(b) Tentacles capitate, simple; type of Coryne and Syncoryne; Myriothela is an aberrant form with some of the tentacles modified as " claspers " to hold the ova.
