Rar meaning

(Roshal ARchive) A data compression format developed by Eugene Roshal and released in 1993. A GUI-based interface is available for Windows as well as command line interfaces for Linux. Compressing data into the RAR format requires a commercial version of the product; however, there are several free RAR applications for decompressing RAR files. See archive formats.
