Proper noun
- The Lion from the Narnia Chronicles written by C. S. Lewis; an allegorical Christ figure.
Origin
From Turkish aslan. From Old Turkic arslan (“lion”), from Proto-Turkic. It is assumed that arslan is made of two different word stems:
- "ars", of uncertain origin.
- "-lan", an Old Turkic suffix designating wild and predatory animals (aslan, sırtlan, kaplan, yılan).
