- a photochemical process by which photographs are reproduced on intaglio printing plates or cylinders
- a plate or cylinder so made
- a print from such a plate, usually with a satinlike finish
Etymology: Fr < photo (contr. < photographe < photograph) + gravure, engraving < graver: see engrave
