tia - Computer Definition
An industry association that represents information and communications technology manufacturers and service providers in standards development, domestic and international policy advocacy, and facilitating business opportunities for its membership.TIA represents the communications sector of the Electronics Industry Alliance (EIA). (1) (Telecommunications Industry Association, Arlington, VA, www.tiaonline.org) A membership organization founded in 1988 that sets telecommunications standards worldwide. It was originally an EIA working group that was spun off and merged with the U.S. Telecommunications Suppliers Association (USTSA), sponsors of the annual SUPERCOMM conferences. In 2000, the MultiMedia Telecommunications Association (MMTA) was integrated into TIA.
