the condition of having a heavy deposit of fat in the buttocks or thighs, as in some Hottentot women
sometimes called steatopygy ste′a·to′·pygy (-täpə jē)

Etymology: ModL < Gr stear (see steatolysis) + pygē, buttocks < IE base *pu-, to swell > L pustula: see pustule
