- Follicles of the hermaphrodite gonads of Euthyneurous Gastropods.
The white blood-corpuscles are produced in the follicles at the base of the intestinal villi.
The sepals and petals are free or more or less united, the stamens as many or twice as many as the petals; the carpels, usually free, are equal to the petals in number, and form in the fruit follicles with two or more seeds.
Deep to these is the ovarian stroma, composed of fibrous tissue, and embedded in it are numerous nests of epithelial cells, the Graafian follicles, in various stages of development.
