electrocardiogram[-kär′dē ə grām′]
a graphic tracing showing the variations in electric force which trigger the contractions of the heart: it is used in the diagnosis of heart disease
- A graphic record of heart muscle activity recorded by an electrocardiograph.
- The procedure performed to produce such a record. In both senses also called cardiogram.
