The opposite of modulate. Demodulation reverses the process of modulation in order to extract a signal from a circuit. See also modulate.

- signal: At the far end the receive half of another modem demodulates the incoming signal to recover the digital data.
- audio: This resultant signal is then processed to demodulate the audio from the carrier.
