A feature of a digital camera that prevents the picture from being taken unless the person is smiling. The camera's software finds the person's mouth and snaps the picture when a smile is present. The function can be turned off when smiling is not required. FotoNation, acquired by Tessera Technologies (www.tessera.com), is a pioneer in this area. See digital camera.
