Off-floor Order Definition

An order to buy or sell a security that comes from off of the exchange floor, meaning that it is from a broker who is processing an order for a customer, in contrast to an on-floor order, which often comes from a floor member trading for a personal account. Off-floor orders are required to be executed before on-floor orders.
