In 1995, Siemens Nixdorf acquired Pyramid, and three years later split the computer operation into Siemens Computer Systems and moved retail and banking systems to an independent company, Wincor Nixdorf (www.wincor-nixdorf.com). Over the years, the company introduced several product lines, including the Nile, Reliant and RM families, many of which included a high-speed mesh interconnect for symmetric multiprocessing (SMP).
