A 565.148 Mbps point-to-point dedicated, digital circuit provided by the telephone companies in Europe. E5 lines carry four multiplexed E4 channels. See E1, E4 and DS.

The fifth level in the European E-carrier digital hierarchy. E-5 operates at a signaling rate of 565.148 Mbps, which supports 7,680 DS-0 channels at 64 kbps for payload.
