E4 meaning

A 139.264 Mbps point-to-point dedicated, digital circuit provided by the telephone companies in Europe. E4 lines carry four multiplexed E3 channels. See E1, E3 and DS.

The fourth level in the European E-carrier digital hierarchy. E-4 operates at a signaling rate of 139.268 Mbps, which supports 1,920 DS-0 channels at 64 kbps for payload.
