Free Online Cryptogram Game
Put your sleuthing skills to the test as you try to decode these secret messages. These printable cryptograms aren't as easy as you would think because each letter has been replaced with a different letter in the alphabet. For example, all of the letters "a" in the secret message might be replaced with the letter "x". Print the cryptogram puzzles for on the go fun or solve the word puzzle online. Decoding words is no easy task!
Game Instructions
- When you start the game you will see the gray boxes below the mixed up letters of the secret phrase. Use the blue scrollbar on the right to view the entire phrase if necessary.
- In the bottom area of the game board there are two rows for the alphabet - the top row is green and the bottom is blue. Click on a letter in the green row and drag it to a letter on the blue row. This will cause the letter you selected in the blue row to be placed in the gray boxes above. A line will be drawn from the green row to the blue row for each letter so you can see the relationship.
- You can also click on a gray box and type in a letter.
- Notice that when you start a game one or more letters from the green row are already pointing to letters in the blue row and the letters are already arrayed onto the corresponding gray boxes above. These are free letters and they serve as a clue.
- You can get more clues by clicking on the "Message Clue" and/or "Letter Hint" buttons.
- The "Clear Puzzle" button will allow you to start over.
- Some secret messages may not have a Message Clue and/or Letter Hints.
