Wernicke-Korsakoff Syndrome Definition

A neurological disorder usually associated with severe alcoholism and subsequent thiamine deficiency, marked by the signs of Wernicke's encephalopathy in the acute phase followed by the chronic memory loss and disorientation of Korsakoff's syndrome.
