The delivery of a movie, TV program or sports event to a TV set when the customer requests it. Video-on-demand (VOD) comprises free and paid programs from satellite TV, telephone and cable companies, as well as streaming services on the Internet. Internet-based video-on-demand, initially aimed at the user's computer, migrated to the TV set with services such as Netflix, Hulu, VUDU, Amazon Instant Video and iTunes.
