V.120 - Computer Definition
The ITU-T Recommendation that specifies support for data terminal equipment (DTE) with asynchronous or synchronous serial interfaces over an ISDN network through data encapsulation.V.120 includes specifications for allowing multiple terminals to share a 64-kbps bearer channel (B channel) through statistical time division multiplexing (STDM). See also asynchronous, B channel, ISDN, STDM, and synchronous.
An ITU standard (1988) that specifies how DTEs with asynchronous or synchronous serial interfaces can be supported on an ISDN network using a protocol (similar to LAP-D) to encapsulate the data to be transmitted. It includes the capability of using statistical multiplexing to share a B channel connection between multiple DTEs.
