to the nth power
To the nth power is a phrase used in mathematics to indicate that a number will be multiplied a certain amount of times by it's own self. (adjective)
- An example of "to the nth" power is when you are told that you have "four to the third power." This means four will be multiplied by four three times, so you will multiple 4 x 4 x 4.
- An example of "to the nth" power is when you are told that you have "four to the fifth power." This means four will be multiplied by four five times, so you will have 4 x 4 x 4 x 4 x 4.
