WTO definition - telecom
An international organization that deals with the global rules of trade between nations. The WTO was formed in 1995 as the successor to the Global Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), which was established in 1955 in the wake of World War II (WWII). In the context of telecommunications, the WTO's involvement largely has been in the realm of international long distance rates.
