waveform definition - telecom
The geometric shape of a wave. A waveform is used to graphically represent some recurring characteristic of a wave over time. Electromagnetic energy is commonly plotted in two dimensions as a sinusoidal waveform that varies in amplitude (A), or signal strength, on the vertical (V) axis at a periodic rate, or frequency (f), over time (t) on the horizontal (H) axis.
