  1. Volt. See volt.
  2. Vertical. From the Latin vertex, translating literally as turning point, and meaning top, zenith, or summit. At a right angle to the horizon. The y-axis on a two- or three-dimensional grid, chart, or graph in a Cartesian coordinate system. See also Cartesian coordinates, V & H, y-axis, and z-axis.
  3. The V series of ITU-T Recommendations. The V series specifies protocols relating to modems and modem communications protocols over the public switched telephone network (PSTN). See V series.
  4. V interface or Reference Point V in ISDN. See Reference Point V.
