trunk interface

trunk interface definition - telecom
The total of hardware and firmware that serves to interconnect a trunk and a switch, router, or other device, and to facilitate their interoperation. Such interfaces are specific to the Physical Layer protocols, which address such factors as transmission medium, physical dimensions of the medium, signal frequency and wavelength, signal format, and signaling speed.
