tribit
tribit definition - telecom
Referring to a modulation technique that impresses three bits on a baud, so that the bit rate is triple the baud rate. Such a technique employs eight signal states. Quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) is a tribit technique achieved by defining two amplitude values for each of four phase shifts. See also amplitude, amplitude modulation, baud, baud rate, bit, bit rate, dibit, modulation, phase, QAM, quadbit, signal, and unibit.
