transmission system definition - telecom
A combination or assembly of components that forms a complex whole entity that functions as a single unit to accomplish the transmission of signals. A transmission system always includes circuit terminating equipment on both the transmit and receive ends of a transmission medium. The system may also include amplifiers, repeaters, and other intermediate devices that variously serve to amplify, reshape, and retime signals.
