The Open Group definition - telecom
An inter-industry forum dedicated to the development and promotion of electronic messaging, including e-mail, fax, electronic data interchange (EDI), based on open standards and global interoperability. Previously known as the Electronic Messaging Association (EMA),The Open Group is technology-neutral and vendor-neutral. See Appendix A for contact information. See also EDI, e-mail, and fax.
