PAMS

PAMS definition - telecom
An automated testing mechanism designed to objectively measure to quality of speech transmission. PAMS uses a sensory model to compare the degraded signal received to the original, unprocessed analog signal prior to encoding and transmission. PAMS is analogous to the mean opinion score (MOS) defined in P.800, which is a much more subjective approach involving a panel of human listeners. See also P.800.
