NOS definition - telecom
Software that provides a local area network (LAN) with multiuser, multitasking capabilities, facilitates communications and resource sharing, and thereby provides the basic framework for LAN operation.The NOS comprises modules distributed throughout the LAN, with some residing in the servers and others in the clients.
