N-AMPS

N-AMPS definition - telecom
An improvement on the AMPS 1G analog cellular radio technology that tripled system capacity, by splitting each 30 kHz channel into three 10 kHz voice channels. Very few cellular providers in the United States deployed N-AMPS. See also 1G, analog, cellular radio, channel, and AMPS.
