multi-step fiber definition - telecom
A type of step-index optical fiber comprising multiple layers of cladding with sharp steps in the index of refraction (IOR) at the boundaries. Multi-step fiber compounds the effect of stepindex fiber. See also cladding, IOR, and step-index fiber.
