MPEG-7 definition - telecom
The ISO/IEC international standard officially known as the Multimedia Content DescriptionInterface, MPEG-7 is intended to be the content representation standard for multimedia information search, filtering, management, processing, and retrieval. MPEG-7 essentially is a metadata standard based on XML (eXtensible Markup Language) for describing multimedia content features in order that one can easily search for multimedia content on the Web.
