M12 definition - telecom
A device used in a digital carrier system to multiplex level one bit streams into a level two bit stream. In a T-carrier system, for example, an M12 multiplexes four T1s into a T2 bit stream. See also bit stream, carrier, multiplexer, T1, T2, and T-carrier.
