ISP definition - telecom
- InSide Plant. All of the telecommunications apparatus, equipment, wiring, and systems housed in buildings. ISP includes the main distribution frame (MDF), intermediate distribution frames (IDFs), inside wire and cable systems, switches and routers, multiplexers, storage batteries, backup power generators, and related equipment. See also outside plant.
- Internet Service Provider. A company that provides Internet access services to end users. An ISP can be local, regional, national, or international in nature and can provide a wide range of access alternatives, including dial-up and ADSL. See also ADSL and dial-up.
