IPX

IPX definition - telecom
The Network Layer (Layer 3) protocol in Novell NetWare for exchanging packets between LANs. IPX is similar to the Internet Protocol (IP), but is not industry standard and has been overwhelmed by IP. Sequenced Packet Exchange (SPX) is the associated Transport Layer (Layer 4) protocol. See also IP, IPX/SPX, LAN, Network Layer, protocol, and SPX.
